YouTube is introducing a new augmented reality (AR) feature called AR Beauty Try-On that will change the game of beauty eCommerce, by enabling users to try on makeup virtually from the YouTube app.
Designed for a split-screen experience, this feature will have a YouTube makeup review or tutorial video playing at the top of the screen with a stream from users’ own front-facing camera below. Users will be able to access a palate of makeup colours and tap to apply them to their own face while the video plays above.
The feature is currently undergoing alpha testing, and will be available to YouTube creators through Google’s in-house branded content program, FameBit.
